Trentham Gardens trip
We had a wonderful time at Trentham Gardens on Tuesday 3rd July. It was a beautiful, warm and sunny day for our trip. The children enjoyed exploring the sensory garden, playing in the adventure playground and taking the barefoot walk challenge.
Expressive Arts & Design Workshop
The Nursery children were able to invite a grown up in to school to show them what activities they complete in this area of learning. Everybody enjoyed the workshop and it was a great success. Thank you to all the grown-ups who could attend.
The children all looked fantastic wearing their homemade Easter bonnets. Well done to all children who made one at home, they proudly walked around school on an Easter parade.
The Nursery children enjoyed working with their adult as part of their Mathematics Workshop. There were a variety of activities for the children to access in order to show the learning in this area in Nursery. Both the adults and children had a great time at the workshop!! Well done everyone!!
Supporting the current Foundation stage topic, which is Keeping Warm in Winter and learning about the Homeless. Soup and hot chocolate was made and served for parents to make a donation. We raised £68.37 during this event and all proceeds will be sent to the charity Shelter.
Thank you for all your support.
On Wednesday 13th December the Nursery children enjoyed visiting Reverend Helen Hoe and singing the Christmas songs they had learned ‘Sing a song of Shepherds’ and `Away in a Manger`.
The Nursery children thoroughly enjoyed our Nativity Christmas workshops where they made a Christmas tree decoration, sang and danced with Mrs Webb, played the ‘Roll a Manger’ game, and even acted out the Christmas story. In preparation for this the children made mince pies for the grown-ups.
The children had lots of fun playing in the snow at Nursery.
Foundation Stage’s trip to National Adventure Farm, July 2017
On Monday 17th July, all of the children visited the farm and had a very busy day: planting beans and retelling the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’; looking for bugs in the growing garden; going on a trailer ride looking for hidden scarecrows; stroking the animals and having lunch (always a highlight of a trip for the children!). The sun was shining and the children were smiling!
On Thursday 4th May the Nursery children had an English workshop. During the workshop the children worked with their parents completing different activities inside and outside linked to Reading, Phonics and Writing. Both the children and parents had a great time! A big thank you to the parents for their support from the Early Years team.
Mrs Morgan came to school to talk about what she does to help the dentist to care for people’s teeth. She allowed the children to look at the special mirrors, face masks and rubber gloves; some children even pretended to be patients and wear the bib and glasses!
Traffic patrol officer
Mrs Dugmore came in to speak to the children about her job as the ‘Lollipop lady’ also known as the traffic patrol officer. She showed us her uniform, resources and how to cross the road safely with her help.
We also had a special visit from a Nurse who came in to talk about how she helps people. She showed us how blood pressure is taken and talked about working in an air ambulance.
Easter Service at the Chapel
On Monday 3rd April Reception and Nursery went across to the Chapel to listen to the Easter story with Reverend Helen Hoe. We sung beautifully and sat and listened carefully to Helen as she told us all about Easter.
Mini beast roadshow
On Thursday 9th March Nursery had a visit from the bug lady. What confidence everybody showed by either touching, holding and asking questions about the mini beasts. Brilliant fun!!
World Book Day
On Thursday 2nd March 2017, Nursery celebrated ‘World Book Day’ by coming to school with their slippers, a cushion and their favourite book to share with their friends. We had such a lovely day sharing our favourite stories.
Children from KS2 came to share their books with ourselves and Reception children.
Author and illustrator, Matt Buckingham, visited Nursery
On Monday 13th February 2017, Matt came to talk to the children about his job as an author and illustrator. He read some of his books and explained how he created the pictures. He then drew some pictures for the children to guess what they were going to be and after that, he asked the children to ‘scribble’ and he turned their scribbles into a picture!
Shape, space and measure workshop.
A big thank you to you all for coming along to our Nursery workshop on 7th February. The children had a wonderful time sharing their learning with you. We hope you were able to take some good ideas away to try at home. Here are a few photos of the fun we had.
Fun in the snow!
Lots of fun was had by the teachers and children in Nursery and Reception when they went out to play in the snow.
