Speech and Language therapy

Liz Parkes has been working with us since March one day a week. We have super results through this intervention, improving speech and language in our school. Not only has Liz worked with our children but training staff too.

I qualified as a speech and language therapist in 1997 and have always specialised in working with children, firstly for the NHS in Manchester and then moving to New Zealand to work in Education within an Early Intervention Team. I returned to the UK and the NHS in 2007, working locally in Newcastle and the Staffordshire Moorlands. I set up “Talk Matters” in 2014, to offer an alternative way for schools and parents to access speech and language therapy services. I’ve been working one day a week with the dedicated staff and hardworking pupils at Ravensmead since March 2015, supporting those children who need some extra help with communication skills. I look forward to continuing throughout this academic year, with some exciting new workshops and drop-ins planned to work more closely with parents and families.
