Skydive to support Alzheimer’s Research UK
Mrs Hubbard, Mrs Bond, Miss Morgan, Mrs Russell and Mr Webb (our school Governor) took part in a skydive on 13th May at Tilstock Airfield.
Together, they raised £4276.81 for Alzheimer’s Research UK!
We are also having a ‘wear an item of blue’ day (£1 donation) on Thursday 25th May and a collection at Sports Day which will be spit equally between Approach and Alzheimers Research.
If you would like to donate to Alzheimers Research, please follow the link below to our brave Skydivers Just Giving page.
More about the charities we’re supporting
Our school’s chosen charity this year is Approach. They provide services to meet the needs of older people with dementia or mental health needs, along with adults who are socially disadvantaged. They work mainly in North Staffordshire and the City of Stoke-on-Trent.
So far this year we have raised £400 to help the charity. The children and staff have been taking part in dementia workshops, to help educate us all about this disease, whilst raising awareness at the same time.
The charity we support does a fantastic job of helping families, when a diagnosis has been given. However, we have personally come across cases of even younger adults developing dementia and the impact this can have on them and their families.
So we also wanted to support Alzheimer’s Research UK, to fund ground breaking research to try and prevent families suffering in the first place and hopefully to find something that will slow down the progression of certain types of dementia, once diagnosed.
We all wanted to do something incredible, an amazing experience (if not terrifying!) whilst also raising valuable money for Alzheimer’s Research UK. We are also hoping to show the children the video of the skydive on our return to school, and prove to them we can all overcome fears and aspire to try new things!
Thank you for your support!
