World Book Day 2017

On Thursday 2nd March, the whole school celebrated World Book Day by coming to school with their slippers, a cushion and their favourite book to share with their friends. Each group focused on an Author.

Nursery – Eric Carle
Reception – Allan Ahlberg
Y1 – Sue Hendra
Y2 – Julia Donaldson

Decorated classroom doors

Each class decorated their door based on books written by their author. There were some wonderful, creative ideas on display and the children had lots of fun painting, writing, drawing, sticking and cutting.

Sharing a book

In the hall, the children wore their slippers and sat on their cushions to read with their reading partners and each teacher read a story to another class.

There was also fun sporting activities taking place on the KS2 playground with the Y5/6 match of Quidditch. There were hoops, blusters, a quaffle, broomsticks that the children had made and lots of spectators with banners and flags waving and cheering of their team. Mr Green dressed up as the snitch and the seekers has a laugh trying to catch him.

World Book Day Competition

There was a competition to design a cover for their favourite book. Lots of children took part and we had a lovely display of all their designs. A winner was chosen from each group and announced in Celebration assembly on Friday. The lucky winners received books and a certificate.
